The world of traditional tea can seem mysterious and difficult to navigate when commodity tea dominates the market.

Pauliina's Story

Blending Tea, East Asia and South Dakota

I was born and raised in the historical town of Turku in Southern Finland. Drawn to adventure and determined to carve my own path in life, I never hesitated to take roads less traveled by… which befittingly led me to South Dakota!

I’ve visited 40+ countries and lived most of my adult life as an expat abroad. My close to a decade in East Asia – Korea, China and Singapore – expanded my worldview in ways that no formal education ever could. East Asian ancient wisdom and traditions are not only fascinating but also have much to offer for any human being seeking to enhance their holistic wellbeing and live in harmony with nature.

Tea for me is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Mindful moments with a cup or a bowl of tea are not just about nourishing my body, but also an opportunity to turn inward. After all, it was monks early on who cultivated tea and used it daily as an aid to meditation! Tea, at its most authentic, is like travel in a cup: to a distant land, as well as deep within.

Having searched for hidden gems all my life, it seems fitting that I would end up in South Dakota at this stage of my life. A beautiful natural environment reminiscent of where I grew up, people connected to the land and steady in their values, with a mindset that celebrates freedom is what appeals to me and what I can relate to. My dream is to one day have a tea room in the Black Hills, away from the city and surrounded by nature.

But until then…

We can meet up and share some tea in Sioux Falls!
